The tastee story
The McMain family started working in the bakery industry when Dan McMain came to Australia in the 1920’s with his then 8 year old son Peter and settled in Sydney. Peter continued the family tradition with a move to Brisbane in the late 1930’s.

Tastee Products commenced business in 1964 in Milton, Brisbane supplying wholesale bakery items to roadside vendors in and around Brisbane. Early volumes were up to 1000 dozen pies a day which were all made by hand until the automatic pie machine and sausage roll machines were installed.
Due to the demand for pies and sausage rolls the bakery was moved to larger premises in Woolloongabba, Brisbane in 1982. At this stage the majority of the business was supplying food service distributors and the catering trade.
The mid 80’s saw the company expand into supplying supermarkets frozen sausage rolls under their Housebrands with Peter’s son Rob McMain managing the company. Improvements were made to the manufacturing line in 1988 at the same time we began supplying supermarkets under the Tastee brand with 4 pack Pies and 36 pack Cocktail Sausage rolls.
To this day Tastee remains a strong brand in the supermarkets and has expanded its range to include flavoured pies and party sausage rolls. The company continues to manufacture out of the Woolloongabba factory using quality ingredients and following the HACCP Quality Control system.
The Tastee brand can be found in all major supermarkets and independent retailers across Australia.
